SMASD board meeting to approve personnel

At the recent meeting of the St. Marys Area Board of School Directors, the board approved several new personnel items.
All employment recommendations are provisional for 30 days pending receipt of Act 151 and Act 34 clearance documentation.
Support personnel resignations were accepted for Ann Fledderman, of St. Marys, as cafeteria monitor, and Michelle Holsopple, of Wilcox, as classroom aide.
The following support personnel transfers were approved: Jane Caretti, of Weedville, as special education aide, Bennetts Valley, at $7.50 per hour, effective Sept. 6; Barbara Hayes, of St. Marys, as classroom aide, St. Marys Area Middle School, at $7.88 per hour, effective Sept. 30; Patricia Hoh, of Ridgway, as classroom aide, South St. Marys Street Elementary, at $8.04 per hour, effective Aug. 22; Ruth Uhl, of Kersey, as cafeteria worker, South St. Marys Street Elementary, at $7.69 per hour, effective Oct. 3.
The following support personnel were hired: Andrea Gerber, of Kersey, as cafeteria monitor, Fox Township Elementary, at $7.50 per hour, effective Sept. 15; Julie Greenthaner, of St. Marys, as cafeteria worker, St. Marys Area High School, at $7.50 per hour, effective Oct. 3; Lynn Hoffman, of St. Marys, as classroom aide, St. Marys Area Middle School, at $7.50 per hour, effective Aug. 22; Shannon Morean, of St. Marys, as special education aide, South St. Marys Street Elementary, at $7.50 per hour, tutor $10 per hour.
Supplemental contracts were awarded to: Steven Bauer as Senior class advisor at a new rate of $300; Barbara Bartlett as junior class advisor at a new rate of $300; Michael Belovesick as high school year book advisor at a renewed rate of $840; Michael Belovesick as media club co-advisor at a renewed rate of $1,313; Michael Belovesick as assistant high school yearbook advisor at a renewed rate of $525; Julie Bish as math department chairperson at a renewed rate of $135; Stacey Brem as Fox Township yearbook advisor at a new rate of $100; Danielle Carnessali as Bennetts Valley yearbook advisor at a renewed rate of $110; Tony Defilippi as social studies department chairperson at a renewed rate of $402; Dawn Erich as middle school yearbook co-advisor at a renewed rate of $431; Matthew Frank as musical producer at a renewed rate of $926; Matthew Frank as drama club advisor at a renewed rate of $276; Matthew Frank as high school government co-advisor at a new rate of $175, (half contract); Christopher Gankosky as musical director at a renewed rate of $1,436; Christopher Gankosky as stage/concert/jazz director at a renewed rate of $1,870; Meghan Glenn as junior class advisor at a new rate of $300; Michelle Jackson as senior class advisor at a new rate of $300; Joseph Lenze as volunteer assistant girls basketball coach; Randy Loudon as physical education department head at a new rate of $300; Emily Schreiber as intramural assistant girls basketball coach at a new rate of $300; Dana Smith as middle school student council at a new rate of $350; Dominic Surra as high school student government co-advisor at a new rate of $175, (half contract); Dominic Surra as government outreach at a new rate of $350.
In addition, the following personnel were approved for hire: Krista Miller, of St. Marys, as health aide, effective Oct. 3; Christine Gavazzi, of Weedville, as substitute teacher, effective Sept. 14; Fawn McMackin, of St. Marys, as homebound teacher, effective Sept. 20; Cathy Zimmerman, of Kersey, as homebound teacher, effective Sept. 2. The board also approved two leaves of absence.
The board issued a correction in position of employee for Monica Dragich, of Kersey, as tutor, (previously listed as classroom aide), Fox Township Elementary, at $10.30 per hour, effective Sept. 6.
