SMASD district rates above state averages

October 7, 2012

ST. MARYS - "We continue to be above state averages, which is very good," said St. Marys Area School District Superintendent Ann Kearney in reviewing the district's report card for the 2011-- 2012 school year during Thursday's workshop meeting of the district's board of directors.
The report, issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), includes findings based on the district's attendance and graduation rates and performance on state assessment tests, namely the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA), as well as other criteria.
As a whole, the district bested the state averages of students testing at or above proficiency in PSSA exams by a significant margin in every category-- math, reading, science, and writing.
