SMASD names new superintendent

After a lengthy and rigorous search the St. Marys Area School District board of directors approved the appointment of Dr. G. Brian Toth of Tyrone as the new superintendent.
During a special board meeting held Friday evening current SMAHS Principal Joshua Williams was unanimously approved as the assistant superintendent, a newly-created position unanimously approved by the board with a salary of $110,000.
"I look forward to the new position. Words can't express what the support from people in this community meant to me and my family," Williams said. "I truly believe it's the best decision for our kids, for our community going forward, wholeheartedly. It's a great opportunity."
In addition Joseph Collins, current director of curriculum, instruction and assessment was appointed as the new SMAHS principal at a salary of $96,000. The curriculum director position was dissolved as those duties will be assumed by Williams.
