At Monday's meeting of the SMASD Board of Directors a motion to raise school lunch prices $.10 per meal was adopted unanimously. The increase, to take effect next year, is the result of a federal mandate entitled "Equity in School Lunch Pricing." The mandate requires districts to raise lunch prices $.10 per year until the "paid meal" lunch prices reach the the $2.72 level, at which the government then reimburses districts per free lunch.
