Smoke on the Mountain BBQ synonymous with community

June 16, 2014

KERSEY – Event organizers are in high gear as they prepare for the Smoke on the Mountain BBQ cook-off scheduled for this weekend.
A cruise-in will be held Friday starting at 4 p.m. with DJ Mookie on hand.
The BBQ competition gets underway Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
"This is our fourth competition and it's basically just barbecue contestants, they can grill however they want-- wood, gas, whatever-- broken down into three categories, chicken, ribs, and brisket," said Charlene DeFrain, one of the event's organizers. "There are events taking place over the two days and Saturday is mostly cooking and judging at the end of the day."
