Snowy Owls irrupt from the Arctic

When one thinks of Snowy Owls it conjures up different images in different minds. One person may envision Hedwig the Snowy Owl in Harry Potter. Others may instantly picture in their mind a beautiful Snowy Owl standing majestically in an Arctic landscape. Regardless of what scene pops into your mind, it’s rather unlikely that you were picturing them in our own backyard.
2013 has offered us an opportunity to see Snowy Owls rather close to home compliments of an irruption. It’s worth noting that the word is irruption and not eruption. An eruption is generally an event that is not looked upon favorably while on the other hand an irruption is something that bird watchers and wildlife photographers welcome with open arms.
