'Soup'er Bowl collection raises over $5,700 for food bank

February 24, 2013

Confirmation candidates from St. Marys, Sacred Heart, and Queen of the World parishes raised over $5,700 for the Christian Food Bank in St. Marys during a 'Soup'er Bowl collection earlier this month and presented a check in that amount to Christian Food Bank Treasurer Betsy Roberts on Sunday afternoon.

Confirmation candidates from the three local parishes-- St. Marys, Sacred Heart, and Queen of the World-- held a 'Soup'er Bowl collection following each Mass at all three parishes on the weekend of the Super Bowl earlier this month. Student volunteers also manned a collection following a Mass held at the chapel at Elk County Catholic High School that weekend prior to the Diamond Dazzle. Throughout the course of that weekend, over $5,700 was raised to benefit the St. Marys Christian Food Bank.
