A sizable crowd gathered on the grounds of the St. Marys Golf Club on Saturday as they awaited the annual firework display. The ideal summer weather made for a clear night to view the fireworks from throughout the city. The display is part of the annual St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce Independence Day Celebration.
In addition to the fireworks sponsored by the Chamber, local clowns entertained attendees with balloon sculptures and the Whiskey River Band provided musical entertainment. The performance, as well as that of The Moore Brothers at Fox Township Community Park on July 3, was part of the 2011 Elk County Summer Concert Series. The next free concert will feature the Friday Niters beginning at 6:30 p.m. on July 15 at the Courthouse Gazebo in Ridgway.
