While Governor Corbett may have proposed an increase to the state education budget, St. Marys Area School District is not benefitting from the increase.
Although Corbett's preliminary budget is not set in stone the figures provide the school district an opportunity to start to build its budget and estimate what they anticipate receiving from the state and federal government, earned income and real estate.
SMASD's proposed 2014-15 budget is $9,782,347, an increase compared to the 2013-14 budget of $9,571,032.
