Stephan Hoyt Stump, 41, of Rose St., Johnsonburg, died Thursday, June, 21, 2012 at UPMC Presbyterian of Pittsburgh following a short illness.
He was born Feb. 4, 1971 in Ridgway, the son of Clifford Stump and Barbara (Redmond) Kronenwetter.
Stephan was a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1989, and attended Penn State main campus for several years. He lived most of his life in Johnsonburg, spending some time in DuBois, the Poconos and State College.
He worked as a chef for many restaurants, including The Kopper Kettle, Treasure Lake Ski Lodge, Tommy Deeâ€™s, St. Marys Country Club, restaurants in the Poconos and most recently Lumberjacks. He was a musician, usually playing lead or bass guitar with several bands, including Judgment, Barbarian Hedgehog, Below, Sticker and Witchdoctor.
He is survived by his father, Clifford Stump of Ridgway; his mother, Barbara (Redmond) Kronenwetter of Johnsonburg; one sister, Stephanie (Herbert) Distler of Johnsonburg; three nieces, Larissa, Thea and Tameryn Distler; and one great-niece, Elimena Ray Henderson.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Hoyt and Agnes Stump, and Marcellus and Edith Redmond.
The family of Stephan Hoyt Stump will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Ubel Funeral Home of Johnsonburg. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Ford officiating.
