Stephen A. Lion

Stephen A. Lion, 64, of 205 Ford Rd., St. Marys, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, Jan. 2, 2013 at the Elk Regional Health Center.
He was born May 2, 1948 in St. Marys, son of the late Robert G. and Irene Wehler Lion.
On Nov. 13, 1971 in the St. Boniface Church, he married Alice R. Collins, who survives.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Elk County Christian High School, Class of 1967. He was a retired employee of SGL Carbon Company, retiring in 2009 after 42 1/2 years of service.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, served in the U.S. Army, was a Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader for 50 years, and was an Eagle Scout and a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. He enjoyed his grandchildren and family, hunting, fishing, his summer home at East Branch Lake, old tractors and woodworking.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert T. (Amy) Lion of Benezette and Andrew S. (Sally) Lion of Gibsonia; five grandchildren, Wes, Noah, Ava, Reese and Drew Lion; four sisters, Katherine (Robert) Minnick of St. Marys, Ruth (Mel) McConnell of DuBois, Lois (Vince) Piccirillo of Ashburn, Va., and Jeanette (Dave) Gleixner of St. Marys; and four brothers, Charles (Janet) Lion of St. Marys, Robert (Carol) Lion of St. Marys, Leon (Debby) Lion of St. Marys, and Peter (Lynn) Lion of Wilcox.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Stephen A. Lion will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 at 10 a.m., with Msgr. Gerald Ritchie, his cousin and pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Harborcreek, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.
Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday from 5-8 p.m.
