Summer Reading Program kicks off

June 9, 2014

Photo by Becky Polaski Sean Petrick is shown demonstrating how a bamboo skewer can be placed through a balloon without popping it during the St. Marys Public Library's Summer Reading Program kickoff event on Saturday.

On Saturday morning the large meeting room in the downstairs area of the St. Marys Public Library was filled with sounds more befitting of a science laboratory than a library. It was all part of the kickoff event for the library's Summer Reading Program: Fizz, Boom, Science with Sean.
This year's Summer Reading Program theme is "Fizz, Boom, Read," and so the help of Sean Petrick, a librarian from DuBois who has degrees in environmental science and computer science, was enlisted for the occasion.
