Summer seasons underway at area parks

June 4, 2014

Now that another school years has ended, summer seasons are once again underway at area parks.
Benzinger Park Director John Schneider reported that a number of activities at that location actually began prior to the end of the school year. The park's coed sand volleyball league for adults began on Wednesday, May 28, with the high school coed sand volleyball league and the men's basketball league opening their seasons the following day. The women's basketball league began play on Monday.
According to Memorial Park Director Jason Schreiber, who is also in charge of Kaulmont and Luhr Parks, all of those facilities officially opened for the summer this past Monday, though the park's volleyball leagues got underway in late May. Memorial will be staffed throughout the week from at least 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., while Kaulmont and Luhr Parks may be staffed only on select days each week.
