Superintendent search in limbo

June 9, 2014

Action on hiring a new superintendent for the St. Marys Area School District was absent from the school board meeting agenda on Monday evening.
"The search is still ongoing," said Bob Luchini, SMASD school board president. "We have a number of items to discuss in executive session pertaining to that."
A motion was made during Thursday's workshop to have St. Marys Area High School Principal Josh Williams, who is a candidate for the superintendent position, placed on the meeting agenda to be approved for the position.
During Monday's meeting Luchini cited school code 10-73 which requires a written notice be sent five days in advance notifying board members that they will be voting on a superintendent.
