FOX TWP. – Last year proved a challenging year for the Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department having to overcome the loss of three longtime members as reported by fire chief Scott Surra during a recent township supervisors meeting.
"The end of the year was a difficult time for the fire department family," Surra said.
On Nov. 2, 2013, the department suffered the loss of Blaine "Skeeter" Wildnauer Jr., a 40-year member who died as a result of a medical problem while at the scene of a vehicle crash on the Old Kersey Road.
This is the department's second line of duty death in its 76-year history.
