Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department Chief Scott Surra presented the department's annual report at the recent Fox Twp. Supervisors meeting.
In 2010 the Fox Twp. Fire Dept. was dispatched 100 times in 2010. The total estimated structural fire loss in 2010 in $448,000.
According to the report, there were 11 activated alarms, seven carbon monoxide alarms, two equipment fires, one gas leak, seven grass/brush fires, one hazardous material incident, 18 vehicle accidents, nine basement pumps, seven structural fires, two rescue/extrication calls, seven miscellaneous calls and 28 mutual aid responses, including three calls with the Crystal Fire Department of St. Marys, six with Ridgway Fire Department, 10 with Jay Township Fire Department, two with Horton Township Fire Department, six with Brockway Hose Company and one with Emporium Fire Department.
The average number of personnel for the 100 alarms were 18 firefighters per call with a total of just over 1,976 man-hours spent at those alarms.
