Susan V. Zito, 87, of 501 E. Second St., Emporium, died at her residence on Saturday morning, Jan. 28, 2012.
She was born Jan. 29, 1924, in Emporium, a daughter of the late Anthony and Amelia Nicolo Zito.
Susan graduated from Emporium High School. She retired from GTE, where she worked for many years. When she retired she was the only women to hold a patent at GTE Sylvania. Susan was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Theresa Dixon of DuBois and Jean Zito of Emporium; a brother, Gus Zito of Emporium; a niece, Mary Jo, Mrs. Erik van der Kaay of Kennebunk, Maine; and by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Nancy Connors, Stella Zito and Margaret Anderson; and five brothers,
Frank, Dominick, Joe and Tony Zito and Joe in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Susan V. Zito will be celebrated at the St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 East Fourth Street, Emporium, on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Paul S. Siebert, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium.
Visitation will be at the Barnett Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
