Sylvia J. Feldbauer, 70, of 317 Braun Rd., St. Marys, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 28, 1943 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Luke and Sara Jane Miles Schaberl.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1961. She was also a 1963 graduate of Ogden Nursing School in Elymira, N.Y., and a 1981 graduate of Syracuse University.
On Nov. 7, 1964 in the Queen of the World Church, she married Paul J. Feldbauer, who survives.
Mrs. Feldbauer was a member of the Queen of the World Church. She was an avid knitter and quilter, and she enjoyed traveling and her grandchildren.
She had worked for nine years as a registered nurse at the Elk County General Hospital and was formerly a nurse at the Stackpole Carbon Company, later taking a position in the Human Resources Department. She retired as Vice President of Human Resources at Carbone in 2009.
She is also survived by a son, Stephen L. Feldbauer and his wife Jennifer of DuBois; two grandchildren, Alexandra and Jacob Feldbauer; three sisters, Susan Manno and her husband Leroy of St. Marys, Kathleen Brennen and her husband Robert of St. Marys, and Elizabeth Slaughenhaupt and her husband Jeffrey of St. Marys; three brothers, Luke Schaberl, John Schaberl and his wife Shirley of Charlotte, N.C., and Michael Schaberl of Johnsonburg; and by nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Schaberl.
Family and friends of Sylvia J. Feldbauer are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, at noon, with the Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Maryâ€™s Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
