Theodore "Ted" Gapinski

Theodore "Ted" Gapinski, 77, of 9510 Rocksprings St., San Antonio, Texas, died on Friday, June 15, 2012 at home following a brief illness.
Born on Aug. 7, 1934 in Johnsonburg, he was the son of the late John "Kicker" and Elizabeth "Bee" Gillen Gapinski.
On Oct. 29, 1960, he married Anne Guido, who survives.
Mr. Gapinski was a graduate of Johnsonburg Area High School, Class of 1952. He entered the U.S. Air Force and made the military his career, from which he retired after many years of service as a Master Sergeant. After his retirement, the Department of Defense and FFA, where he purchased dogs for the International Airport Canine Drug Detection Force, employed him. He was also an inspector for the International Canine Drug Detection Forces.
Catholic by faith, he was a member of the Divine Providence Church in San Antonio, Texas.
In addition to his loving wife of 52 years, he is survived by two sons, John (Tami) Gapinski of Lavernia, Texas and Jeff (Judy) Gapinski of San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Jill Gapinski and her partner Nina of San Antonio, Texas; three grandchildren, Joanna Gapinski, Tim Gapinski and Stephanie Payton; and two sisters, Jane Judice of Ridgway and Ellen Schreiber of St. Marys.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sally Redmond.
Funeral services for Theodore "Ted" Gapinski were held Thursday, June 21 at Divine Providence Church. Graveside services followed with full military honors accorded by the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Johnsonburg Public Library or to a charity of the donor's choice.
