Vernice L. Yazowski

Vernice L. Yazowski, 88, of Elk Haven Nursing Home, St. Marys, and formerly of 401 Alder St., Olean, N.Y., died on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Elk Haven Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 29, 1923 in Walton, N.Y., a daughter of the late Carl D. and Katharine Bullis Sprague. In Walton, N.Y., she married the late Roy W. Hood, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Yazowski was an active member of the Olean Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Olean, N.Y.  She enjoyed flowers and sewing.
She is survived by a daughter, Jean, Mrs. Joseph Stellute of Kersey; a son, Roy W. Hood Jr. and his wife Theresa of Plymouth, Mass.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Sprague.
Relatives and friends of Vernice L. Yazowski are invited to attend a memorial service at the Kersey Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Main Street, Kersey, PA on Saturday, April 9 at 3 p.m., with William Freer, Elder, officiating.
There will be no visitation.
