Vertie M. Stewart

Vertie M. Stewart, 78, of Oak Manor on Chestnut St., St. Marys, died on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013 at Elk Regional Health Center following a brief illness.
She was born Nov. 3, 1934 in Mountain City, Tenn., a daughter of the late Lacy and Sara Edna Stewart.
In 1982, Vertie moved to St. Marys and made her home at Oak Manor on Chestnut Street. She retired from Elcam after many years of service. She attended the Senior Center and enjoyed spending time with her housemates and friends. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, going camping, and animals. She also enjoyed attending community events and going to church.
She is survived by a sister, Edith Clark, Coudersport; a brother, Ralph Stewart and his wife Lynn, Rochester, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Caroline Moore, Connie Crown, Brad Moore, Heidi Moore, Randy Haas and Ricky Stewart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Lacy Stewart, and a sister, Helen Stevens.
There will be no visitation.
Relatives and friends of Vertie M. Stewart are invited to attend a Memorial Service which will be held at the Faith Baptist Church on West Creek Road in St. Marys, on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013  at 10 a.m. with Rev. Brad Brunner, officiating.
