The newspaper was first published on Feb. 4, 1910, becoming the first and only daily newspaper St. Marys has ever had. The Daily Press was founded by Mr. John A. Dippold, Mr. J. S. Speer and Mr. William A. Timm. While Speer and Timm remained with the paper for less than six months, Dippold continued as the owner and publisher until his retirement in 1935. Today, The Daily Press continues to serve the community with in-depth coverage of local news and sports events along with features of particular interest to the public.
