Rose M. Reed, 73, of 402 Main Street, Kersey, died on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys.


She was born April 11, 1935, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Michael and Bertha Gibbons Pusl.

On Feb. 12, 1958, she married Andrew Reed, who survives.

She was a member of the Kersey United Methodist Church, past president of the Kersey United Methodist Women, was retired from Stackpole Carbon, and spent most of her time as a homemaker. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting and baking.

Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Edward and Shelley Shirey of Ridgway; a son, Thomas Reed of DuBois; a granddaughter, Brandi Cousins and four step grandchildren Joshua, Jeremy, Kirstie and Kathryn Shirey; a brother, Michael Colly of Massillon, OH; three sisters, Alice Deemer of Byrnedale, Lucy Huffman of Massillon, OH, and Caroline Reed of Ridgway; two sisters-in-law, Sarah Pusl of Johnsonburg, and Jean Riley of Crenshaw.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold “Butsy” Pusl, Walter “Mookie” Pusl, Edward “Moon” Pusl, and a sister, Helen Hutchins.

Funeral Services were held this afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home, Inc., Brockway, with Pastor Joni Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Mountain Cemetery at Brockport.

Memorials may be made to the Kersey United Methodist Church.

The Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home, Inc. in Brockway, was in charge of the arrangements.
