William B. Witherson, 74, of Rockton, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.


He was born Aug. 22, 1933 in DuBois, son of the late Benjamin H. and Cecelia J. (Jones) Witherson.

On Aug. 8, 1953 in Frederick, MD, he married Geraldine “Gerri” (Goodreau) Witherson who survives.

He was retired from Penn Traffic Co. as a truck driver and previous to that he worked at Fairman Drilling Co. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Garfield Lodge #559 Free and Accepted Masons. He was a life member of both 4th and 5th Ward Hose Companies in the DuBois Volunteer Fire Department, was a life member of the Union Township Fire Department and was also a life member of the West Sandy Hose Company. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4454, Falls Creek and various other clubs in the DuBois Area.

In addition to his wife he is also survived by five children: Mrs. Richard (Wendy) Wells of Treasure Lake, Mrs. Joseph (Billie Ann) Wilcox of Claysville, Kenneth Witherson of Johnstown, Benjamin Witherson of Force, and Mrs. Gregory (Susan) Skunda of DuBois; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one sister, Nancy Unsworth of Camp Hill.

A Funeral Service for William Witherson will be held on Saturday, at 10 a.m. from the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois, with Pastor Dick Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Friday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home. The Garfield Lodge #559 will conduct a Masonic Service on Friday at 6 p.m. from the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Heart Center at DRMC, 100 Hospital Ave., DuBois, PA  15801 and/or a charity of the donor’s choice.
