Regional Meeting on Youth and Workforce Development
Written by Publisher
Friday, 09 May 2008

The North Central Workforce Investment Board (WIB) will hold a special regional “listening session” on Thursday May 15 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Red Fern in Kersey.

WIB Director Susan Snelick said that “I strongly encourage employers, parents, and those involved in education or career preparation at any level to attend this very important meeting. It will be a unique opportunity to learn about the North Central Youth Council and the Council’s current strategic planning effort.”

The plan’s draft vision, priority goals and strategies will be presented for feedback. The listening session will also be used to obtain community reaction and specific ideas for moving forward in a wide range of areas to benefit our youth and the region’s employers. The listening session will be an important source of information for preparing the strategic plan. That plan will guide all Youth Workforce policies and programs over the next several years in partnership with a wide range of organizations public and private.

The North Central WIB oversees all federal and state funded workforce development and job training programs in the six county North Central region, including the Career Links. The Youth Council was established to ensure that there is a strong focus on career preparation and job opportunities for all of the region’s young people.

Snelick added “the strategic planning process sets our sights very high. This listening session will ensure that the strategic plan is responsive to the needs of our families, schools, and employers. Attendees will have opportunity to share their views and ideas.”

The meeting will be followed by a presentation on Career Resources.
