By Amy Cherry Daily Press Staff What would a football game be without the traditional tailgate.
The Letters From Home program is sponsoring a “Tailgate for the Troops” event on Saturday, prior to the Third Annual ECC vs. SMA Alumni Football Game. Beginning at 5 p.m. in the St. Marys Area High School parking lot, area residents are welcome to attend the event during which concession items will be available for purchase. LFH Director Chris Jovenetti encourages residents to stop by even if they are not attending the football game. The purpose of the event is to help raise funds for the non-profit program. LFH’s latest campaign, “A Salute to Our Troops”, ships out July 20. Additional information can be found at www.lettersfromhomeprogram.org. While being held in conjunction with Armed Forces Day, the tailgate will feature numerous area Armed Forces personnel and military vehicles. At the game, the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail will honor past and current members of the United States Armed Forces. Tickets for the game are being sold at both high schools and will be available at the gate. Kickoff for the game is set for 7 p.m.
