From staff reports The St Marys Dutch Swim & Dive Teams traveled to Clearfield on Monday night to take on their toughest competition of the season.
Both squads fell short of winning their meet despite a strong showing. The Lady Dutch lost to the Lady Bison by 107-79 while the Dutch lost to the Bisons 102-84. The Lady Dutch had three first place finishes against a very good Lady Bison team. Shelby Zomcik won the 200 IM, Sami Ferragine took first in 1 meter diving. Mara Johnson won the 500 freestyle. For the Dutch, Seth Dippold and Andrew Cotter were triple winners. Dippold and Cotter were members of the victorious 200 freestyle relay with Michael Proudfit and Michael Stebich. Dippold also won the 200 and 100 freestyles while Cotter won the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly. “This was our most challenging meet of the season and we knew we were going to face tough competition. The team swam hard and the races were closer than reflected in the final scores.
