A two-vehicle collision, which occurred on Monday afternoon along state Route 120, claimed the life of Lawrence Dunbar of Emporium.

According to a report issued by the St. Marys City Police Department, Dunbar was operating a 1992 Ford pick-up truck while traveling east on the highway towards Emporium when his vehicle crossed into the westbound lane and collided into a 2009 Kenworth truck, operated by Corey Renwick of St. Marys.

As a result of the collision, Elk County Deputy Coroner Bert Sorg pronounced Dunbar dead at the scene.

The collision occurred at 2:45 p.m. on Monday in the vicinity of 1871 Bucktail Rd.

Fire police were situated in two locations along the highway east, along the intersections of Brusselles Street and Trout Run Road and the intersection of Jackson Road and Bucktail Road.

Traffic was re-routed in both St. Marys and Emporium until crews cleared the scene.

The Crystal Fire Department, St. Marys Ambulance Service and PennDOT personnel assisted St. Marys Police at the scene.

The investigation into the collision continues.
