Gabler visits St. Boniface Elementary School

State Rep. Matt Gabler (R-Elk/Clearfield) visited students at St. Boniface Elementary School in Kersey during Catholic Schools Week.
As a catholic school alumni, having graduated from St. Catherine’s Elementary in DuBois and DuBois Central Catholic High School, Gabler spoke to the students about the benefits of a Catholic education. He pursued his studies at Bucknell University.
Students from first through fifth grades attended the gathering held in the school’s cafeteria.
Gabler posed several questions to students such as what they enjoy about their Catholic education and what they want to be when they grow up, in which students answers ranged from veterinarians, doctors, bakers and professional athletes.

Ridgway Police investigate burglary

The Ridgway Police Department is currently investigating a burglary, theft and criminal mischief that occurred on Oct. 9 sometime between 2 and 7 a.m. at Cliffe's store on a report that the front glass doors were broken. Upon clearing the store, police found that the pharmacy was entered through a rear entrance. After further investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police R&I Unit from Punxsutawney was contacted to collect blood evidence. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ridgway Police Department.
