By Amy Cherry Daily Press Staff Personnel matters including new hires of both professional and substitutes as well as resignations, were approved at the latest St. Marys Area School District Board of Directors meeting.
All employment recommendations are provisional for 30 days pending receipt of Act 151 and Act 34 clearance documentation and pre-employment drug testing, if applicable. Resignations were received by Sharon Wehler of St. Marys as a cafeteria worker, effective October 5 and Kimberly Asti-Fritz of St. Marys, as an aide at South St. Marys Street Elementary, effective October 21. A transfer was approved for Angela Wegemer of St. Marys, effective October 5, from a cafeteria worker at SSMSE to an Accu-Claim worker at the school. One unpaid leave of absence was approved. Margaret Herbstritt of St. Marys was hired effective September 22 as a health aid substitute in all schools. Herbstritt graduated from Kennedy-Western University and hold a bachelor of science in health care. She is certified as an LPN and currently works at Elk Regional Health Center. Fawn McMackin of St. Marys was hired as a homebound teacher. She holds a bachelor of science degree in education and is currently a teacher within the district. Professional substitute personnel were approved for; • Natalie Aiello of Ridgway was hired effective September 22 at all buildings. She holds a bachelor of science degree in education from Clarion University and is certified in biology. • Nicholas Caggiano of Ridgway was hired effective September 22 at the high school and middle school. He holds a degree from Clarion University and is certified in English. • Marisa Caruso of St. Marys was hired effective September 22 at the SSMSE, Fox Township and Bennetts Valley elementary schools and the middle school. She holds a bachelor of science degree in education and is certified in elementary education from Duquense University. • Monica Dragich of Kersey was hired effective September 22 at all elementary school buildings. She holds a bachelor of science degree in education and is certified in elementary and early childhood from Clarion University. • Meghan Fitch of Brockport was hired effective September 22 at all buildings. She holds a bachelor of science degree in education and is certified in elementary education from Penn State University. • Elysha Lyle of Brockway was hired effective September 22 at all buildings. She holds a bachelor of science degree in education and is certified in elementary education from Penn State University. • Kayla Nelson of Johnsonburg was hired effective September 22 at all buildings. She holds a bachelor of science degree in education and has an emergency permit to teach from Edinboro University. • Patrick Piccirillo of Brockport was hired effective October 1 at all buildings. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in English and has an emergency permit to teach from St. Francis College. • Krista Schooley of St. Marys was hired effective September 22 at all buildings. He holds a masters of art in social studies from the University of Pittsburgh. • Douglas Straub of St. Marys was hired effective October 1 at the high school and middle school. He holds a bachelor of science degree in education in mathematics from Clarion University. • Richard Swackhammer of St. Marys was hired effective September 22 for all buildings. He holds a master of science in education and is certified in music from Clarion University. • Gregory Wehler of St. Marys was hired effective September 22 for all buildings. He holds a bachelor of science in kinesiology from Penn State University.
