Starr Hill Winery is celebrating their grand opening this week at their new location in the Franklin Center in St. Marys.

On Tuesday a ribbon cutting was held at Starr Hill Winery’s Wein-Stube, a German name for wine room, which features many of the businesses award winning wine. The store opened its doors on Nov. 10 at the new site.

The new site underwent extensive renovations which took place over the past 1 1/2 months. Work included tearing down the suspended ceiling, painting, installation of a granite tasting bar, new shelving, lighting and flooring.

“This looked like a great spot in a high traffic area,” noted owner Kenn Starr of the S. St. Marys St. location. “We made a unique shop, something different in St. Marys.”

Starr said he hopes residents will visit the new store and sees it as a place where people can bring their friends who are visiting from out of the area.

“I think we’ll get a good turnout,” Starr said.

Among the stores new expanded products are wine supplies, such as various yeasts, for home wine makers. In addition patrons can peruse the selection of Woodwick Candles and Goblin Chocolates, a St. Marys based business.

The store also features a full line of Polish pottery, which is also offered at the winery’s other two locations in Clearfield and Curwensville, where the winery and vineyard is headquartered.

Starr noted that customers can utilize the new location to host private parties in the store’s solarium.

Owners are also planning on hosting special events throughout the year including an upcoming ladies night on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 4-8 p.m.

The store’s hours of operations are currently Tuesdays through Thursdays 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed Sundays and Monday. These hours are subject to change
