During Thursday evening’s Jay Township Supervisors meeting, Dave Bertieri provided a brief report on the developments with the Earned Income Tax Committee.
Bertieri attended Wednesday’s meeting where the committee approved bylaws and hired a solicitor, Tom Wagner. The meeting lasted 45 minutes.
Bertieri along with Coppolo and Jim Allegretto also attended a meeting together in October where he said several important decisions were made.
The committee consists of townships and municipalities within Elk County. Each group pays a specific amount of money into the committee depending on its size. St. Marys and Ridgway are the largest contributions, paying the bulk of the funds.
Next year’s budget for the committee is allotted at $8,500 with Jay Township’s share being $250. The budget covers up until August 31.
Originally money allocated to each municipality was determined by the number of votes they received, but due to the small size of some municipalities the rule was changed that each person is allotted a separate vote.
The funding from the committee will kick in 2012 unless plans are in order before then. The committee has yet to advertise for insurance.
The committee will meet every quarter starting in January, with the locations varying. January’s meeting will be held in Johnsonburg.
