Ellsworth F. “Rudy” Rudolph

Ellsworth F. “Rudy” Rudolph, 75, of 207 Hill Street, Johnsonburg, died Wednesday afternoon, March 3, 2010 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh following a lengthy illness. 

He was born on July 31, 1934 in Kane, son of the late Charles and Laura Brown Rudolph. He married Pearl Candeloro on Jan. 20, 1967 in Wilcox.

He resided in the Johnsonburg all his life and graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1952. He was a member of Johnsonburg United Methodist Church and the Central Hose Co. He loved Johnsonburg Area High School sports, especially basketball games. He was an U.S. Army vet, serving from 1955 to 1957 as a SP3 Cryptographer with the Army Signal Corps and the Army Reserves until 1963. He was employed by the Sears Roebuck & Co. store in St. Marys for 18 years, the Pennsylvania Railroad, ECI Construction, Stackpole Carbon Co. of St. Marys and OSRAM Sylvania in St. Marys for six years where he retired on Jan. 15, 2010.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Charles E. “Chuck” Rudolph at home; two brothers, Robert “Bob” Rudolph and his friend, Sharon Goetz of St. Marys and Charles W. Rudolph of St. Marys; and several nieces and nephews.

A public Memorial Service for Ellsworth “Rudy” Rudolph will be conducted at Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, Inc., 401 Chestnut Street, Johnsonburg, on Friday, March 12 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor David Lake of the Kane First United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Wardvale Methodist Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen’s Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home Friday morning at 10:30 a.m.  

Memorials may be made to any Johnsonburg Area High School sports team of your choice.
