Allen C. Ginther

Allen C. Ginther, 74, of 4481 Allens Mills Rd., Reynoldsville, died on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Highlandview Health Care Center in Brockway.

He was born Aug. 26, 1935, in St. Marys, son of the late Robert and Erlinda Distler Ginther.

On May 15, 1965, he married Rebecca “Becky” Stahlman, who survives.

He was a member of the Allens Mills United Methodist Church, enjoyed fixing machinery, tractors, cars and any kind of mechanical work. He also enjoyed farming. He was a retired dairy farmer. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany while the Berlin Wall was being built.    

Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, Jeffery (Barbara) Ginther of Allens Mills, Mel (Kymm) Ginther of Allens Mills, Kirk Ginther of Munderf,  Robert “Bert” (Kathy) Ginther of Falls Creek; and three brothers, Robert and Larry Ginther both of St. Marys, and William Ginther of Kersey; four sisters, Mrs. Helen Shannon of St. Marys, Mrs. Dorothy Shobert of Kersey, Connie (Tom) Jones of Ridgway; Donna (Paul) Forward of Eagle River, Alaska; and by six grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Byron Ginther, two grandchildren and a great grandchild.  

Funeral Services for Allen C. Ginther will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Allens Mills United Methodist Church, with Rev. Don Henderson officiating. Burial will be in the Beechwoods Cemetery.   

Memorials may be made to the Allens Mills United Methodist Church or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Attn: Tribute Gifts Church Street Station, P.O. Box 780, New York, N.Y. 10008-0780.                             

The Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. of Brockway, is in charge of arrangements.
