Vilmer W. Buchheit
Vilmer W. Buchheit, 96, of 586 Fillmore Rd., St. Marys, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 at the family hunting camp in South Kersey. He was born Feb. 21, 1916, in St. Marys, son of the late Charles and Germaine Goetz Buchheit. In 1939, in St. Mary's Church, he married Frances A. Herzing, who preceded him in death in 1976.He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools. He was a retired employee of the Keystone Carbon Co., retiring in 1980 after 43 years of service. He was a member of the St. Mary's Church; was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener; was a member of the St. Marys Sportsmen's Club; and he enjoyed cooking, enjoyed his camp, and especially enjoyed his family. He is survived by four sons, Raymond Buchheit of St. Marys, Richard Buchheit (Linda) of St. Marys, Gerald Buchheit of St. Marys, and Donald Buchheit (Sharon) of St. Marys; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, James Buchheit and William Buchheit; two sisters, Verna Hanes and Marlene Schatz; and a brother, Earl J. Buchheit. He was the last member of his immediate family. A Mass of Christian Burial for Vilmer W. Buchheit will be celebrated in the St. Mary's Church on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Meinrad Lawson, OSB, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery.
