Viola K. Leathers

Viola K. Leathers, 87, died at the Latrobe Area Hospital on Thursday, March 31, 2011.
She was born July 7, 1923 in DuBois, the daughter of the late Samuel and Twila Stewart Thomas. the last of a family of eight children.
She married Armand A. Leathers, who predeceased her on Feb. 18, 1996, shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary.
She will be remembered throughout the Ridgway community for her work with the Church of Christ, American Cancer Society and the Village Improvement Association. She had been employed as a printer for Mr. Enk‘s Print Shop in Ridgway; when that closed, she went to work for the Ridgway Record, where she retired. She was a loving wife and mother.
She is survived by two daughters, Doretta Leathers of Blairsville and Pamela Bogan of Pittsburgh; a brother-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. John Leathers of State College; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of a family of eight children.
Funeral and committal services for Viola K. Leathers will be held on Monday, in the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home, Ridgway, at 12 noon. Officiating will be Mr. John Smith. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.
Friends will be received at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m.
