Vollmer enters into Pretrial Intervention/Deferred Prosecution Agreement
LEE COUNTY, Fla. – According to information obtained from the Lee County Sheriff's Office, John Joseph Vollmer, 64, of St. Marys, was recently entered into a Pretrial Intervention/Deferred Prosecution Agreement in relation to charges of soliciting another for lewdness assignation, first offense, which were filed against him on Feb. 24.
Vollmer was arrested at 7:40 p.m. on Feb. 23 and was charged with and admitted to the solicitation of prostitution after being apprehended during a vice operation conducted by the Lee County Sheriff's Office Narcotics/Vice unit in the area of Bonita Springs, Fla.
According to information obtained from documents filed with the Criminal Division of the Lee County Clerk of Courts, "prosecution in this case will be deferred for a period of three months and possibly an additional three months if necessary" to allow Vollmer to meet a series of conditions.
These conditions, as stated on the Pretrial Intervention/Deferred Prosecution Agreement, are: he must refrain from any violation of the law; not change his residence or leave the state of Florida without first obtaining the consent of the pretrial officer; truthfully answer all inquiries made by the pretrial officer for purposes of ensuring compliance with the conditions of the Deferred Prosecution Agreement; comply with all instructions given by the pretrial officer and report as required by the pretrial officer; not produce any positive or diluted drug screens if testing or treatment is required; pay supervision costs in the amount of $150; and pay prosecution costs in the amount of $50. He must also report for a mandatory appointment on April 6. Proof of counseling or treatment attendance must be provided when applicable. Additionally, as a special condition of the agreement, he must also attend and successfully complete a one-day prostitution prevention class and show proof that he has undergone specified health screenings.
If Vollmer successfully completes the program and complies with all terms and conditions, the charges will be dropped. If he fails to comply with all conditions of the agreement, he will be required to appear before the Honorable John E. Duryea Jr. on July 8 at 8 a.m.

In reply to comment 87, it is clearly not the case that "children are next." Scientific evidence supports this fact. I was born and raised in St. Marys, and I am now, thankfully, a continent away. I believe the reporting by the Daily Press was abusive to a man who has contributed greatly to the community. And, I clearly recall the routine in St. Marys: go to church on Sunday, drink your way through the work week, and still find time to sleep with your neighbor's spouse! Go ahead, tell me it's not true.....who gets to throw the first stone?

What if the person who had committed the crime had been a high school drop out?....would anyone be batting an eye at it being on the front page or would it have been somewhat expected? I agree that maybe the front page was not neccesary, however the police blotter is not reserved for only the people we "expect" to appear there. Respected people of our community have skeletons in their closets as well. Maybe this should be a lesson to all to look at themselves before we so easily judge someone elses mistakes.

I think the Daily Press should be ashamed of putting "Enquire" worthy garbage on the front page of their newspaper. This is not news, and is honestly not the business of anyone in St Marys. Shame on you, for putting this as "news" You have no consideration for ones family. So glad I quit getting this junk newspaper years ago!!!!

Well he should be embarrased don't you think. The only way to get people like him help is to expose what they are doing. First a prostitute, maybe a child next time.

Don't you think you have embarrased his family enough?? I think this type of "news" is unnecessary. Who at the Daily Press has a grudge against John and, especially, his family!
