Walter J. Polaski

Walter J. Polaski, 83, of Highland View Health Care in Brockway and formerly of Johnsonburg, died Tuesday morning, July 23, 2013 at Highland View Health Care following a lengthy illness.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1929 in Johnsonburg, son of the late Lawrence and Josephine Euken Polaski.
He married Dolores Espin in 1954. She died in October 1998.
Walter resided in Johnsonburg his entire life and graduated from Johnsonburg High School.
He was a member of the Holy Rosary Church, Rolfe Sportsmen's Club. He loved hunting and fishing and was an antiquer.
Walter was a Korean War Army veteran serving overseas as a PFC. He was employed by Stackpole Carbon Co. for 22 years and Airco Carbon Co. for 15 years, retiring in 1996.
He is survived by two sons, Paul Polaski and his wife Dolores of St. Marys, and Walter A. Polaski and his wife Cynthia of St. Marys; and one daughter, Julie, Mrs. Michael Jyachosky of Uniontown; three grandchildren, Christine McCay, Ashley Polaski and Jamie Polaski; and four great-grandchildren, Eli, Aiden, Liliana and Ian McCay.
He is also survived by two brothers, Thomas Polaski and his wife Roberta of Kersey and Eugene Polaski and his wife Kathy of Erie; and one sister, Dorothy, Mrs. William Liscinski of Ridgway.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is predeceased by a brother, Larry Polaski; a sister, Cecelia Tuttolomondo; and a grandson, Jason Polaski.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Walter J. Polaski will be conducted at Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 10 a.m. with Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be at the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg on Thursday, July 25 from 4-7 p.m.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home Friday morning at 9:15 a.m.
