Walter L. Cheatle

Walter L. Cheatle, 90, of 140 Sara Rd., St. Marys, died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the Elk Regional Health Center.
He was born June 2, 1923 in Youngstown, Ohio, son of the late Edward and Lillian Davis Cheatle.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys High School. He was a former employee of the Keystone Carbon Company and retired from Sylvania in 1981.
On June 17, 1944 in the St. Mary’s Monastery, he married Adeline G. Groll, who survives.
Mr. Cheatle was a member of the Queen of the World Church and was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army.
He is also survived by three sons, Walter A. Cheatle of State College, Donald E. Cheatle and his wife (Ann) of Egg Harbor Twp., N.J., and Chester L. Cheatle and his wife Diane of St. Marys; four grandchildren, Aleisha (Jason) Benoit, Monica (Stephen) Brunetti, Amanda (Jason) Detsch, and Amy Cheatle; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Harold “Red” Cheatle of St. Marys.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Dietz; three brothers, Edward, Wilfred, and Charles Cheatle; and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Miller Cheatle.
Family and friends of Walter L. Cheatle are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Walter L. Cheatle to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Friday, June 21 at 1 p.m. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
The Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
