William "Bill" Eugene Pitzer

William "Bill" Eugene Pitzer, 84, died on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at his home in Morehead City, N.C., surrounded by people that loved him.
Born May 25, 1926, he was raised in Cumberland, Md. In his adult years, he lived in St. Marys, where he raised his family and practiced chiropractic for more than 35 years.
In retirement he moved to Saint Michael's, Md., and finally settled in Morehead City in July 2009 to be closer to his children.
Mr. Pitzer will be remembered by all who knew him as a man of passion and principles. He will be remembered for his quick and jovial laugh and his love of life. He could often be found on the golf course, boating, playing chess and spending time with the people he cared about.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Dottie" Pitzer of Morehead City; two sons, William E. Pitzer III and his wife Kathleen and James R. Pitzer, all of Pine Knoll Shores. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Molly (Daniel) Pitzer West, and great-granddaughters Winona and Kathleen West, all of Jacksonville.
Besides his parents, Bill and Golda Pitzer, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanne Pitzer; his second wife, Vivian Sullivan Pitzer; and a daughter, Brenda Sue Pitzer.
A memorial service for William "Bill" Eugene Pitzer is planned for the spring in Cumberland.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
