William J. Clever, 93, of Sena-Kean Manor in Smethport and formerly of Elco Glen in St. Marys, died on Saturday, May 5, 2012.
He was born Aug. 11, 1918 in Apollo, Pa., a son of the late Joseph and Hannah Fryar Clever.
He was married to the late Irene Painter Clever, who preceded him in death in 1981.
Mr. Clever was Bapist by faith and had attended the First Baptist Church in Galeton.Â He was a longtime veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in both World War II and the Korean War, and was discharged in 1960 after more than 18 years of service to our country. He was the service manager at Harpster Chevrolet in Warriors Mark for many years. He later lived in Potter County, where he greatly enjoyed hunting and ï¬shing.Â He was also a member of the Elk County Cursillo Movement.
Mr. Clever is survived by three daughters, Darla, Mrs. James Naugle of Gaines, Pa, Diane, Mrs. Sonny Price of Fyffe, Ala., and Dani Rosenberry and her companion James Underwood of Altoona; five grandchildren, David Naugle and his wife Stacy of Northumberland, Lori Naugle of Elysburg, Kari, Mrs. Jason Ryan of Kersey, Kelli, Mrs. William Zore Jr. of St. Marys and Katie, Mrs. Michael Herzing of St. Marys; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Eugene and James Clever.
Funeral services for William J. Clever will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home, 151 North Michael St., St. Marys, on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. Military honors will be performed by the St. Mary's Servicemen's Burial Detail. Burial will be in the Elders Ridge Cemetery in Elders Ridge, PA.
