Catherine (Kate) Burden Maille, 80, of Erie, died at home on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010.
She was born June 26, 1930 in St. Marys, the daughter of the late Alvin and Eleanor Dunn Burden.
In 1958, she married David Frank Maille, who preceded her in death in 1975.
She graduated from St. Marys Area High School and worked in a music shop for several years before moving to Erie to attend beauty school. and . She completed her beauty school training and was a homemaker until her husband's death. After that, she worked at the Peninsula Drive-In and Plaza and Cinema World Theatres for many years. She also worked as a bus aide for the Milcreek School District, assisting special-needs children for almost a decade. She enjoyed boating and loved Presque Isle, as well as hearing from her kids and grandkids and visiting them often. Until recently, she attended monthly luncheons with her "old ladies" group.
She is survived by two sons, Peter Maille and his wife, Robin, of La Grande, OR, and Andrew Maille and his wife, Andrea, of Erie; five grandsons, Nathan, Simon, Aaron, Timothy and Logan; and by several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Summerville.
Funeral services for Catherine (Kate) Burden Maille will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home in Erie. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, 728 West 9th St., Erie, on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
