Pink was the color of the day on Sunday during the eighth annual Penn State Pink Zone game as the Lady Lions defeated Wisconsin. University Park's Bryce Jordan Center was awash in pink as spectators and players alike donned apparel and accessories as part of the game to raise awareness of breast cancer. Proceeds from the sale of tickets, merchandise, an auction and more will be donated to the Pennsylvania Pink Zone, a nonprofit organization. At halftime nearly 700 cancer survivors were recognized as they filled the court, each holding a sign showing how long they have been cancer-free. The Statesmen, an all-male, student a capella group, serenaded the women during halftime performing popular hits "Ladies Night" by Kool and the Gang and "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge along with their unique renditions of the PSU's "Fight On State" and "Hail to the Lion". Last year's game helped the Lady Lions donate a record $260,000 to breast cancer causes. This year's fundraising efforts will benefit the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College, Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and Lewistown Hospital.
