Kevin C. White, 61, of 215 Little Ave., Ridgway, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 at home with his wife and daughter by his side.
He was born June 7, 1952 in Ridgway, the son of the late Howard and Mary White.
He graduated from Elk County Catholic High School, class of 1970.
On April 18, 1976, he married Linda Parulo.
Kevin was a spiritual journeyman who read scripture daily, and was an active member of St. Leo’s Parish where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served in the prison ministry. Kevin and his wife were Pre Cana instructors. They were also active in the Cursillo movement. Kevin was involved for many years in Hospice and the Cansurmont programs.
He is survived by four daughters, Julee White of Santa Fe, N.M., Raina White and her spouse Eric Krivitzky of Brownsville, Vt., Marie White and her spouse Marykaren Mrowka of Berkley, Calif., and Alana White of Ridgway; five siblings, Howard (Homer) White and Gregory White of Ridgway, Mary Elizabeth White of Edinboro, Veronica White and her spouse Lisa Pike of Florence, S.C., and Matthew White and his spouse Gwen of Destin, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Adelia Fe Turner and Oliver Andrew and Ezra Miller Krivitzky.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Laetitia McHale.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Kevin White will be celebrated at St. Leo’s Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6 with the Very Reverend Paul Siebert officiating.
Friends will be received at the Meehan–Shilk Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 5 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
The family would like to acknowledge everyone who lent a hand during Kevin’s illness, particularly those in the neighborhood who offered their time and support. Also, the Community Nurses Hospice team was a great help and comfort during his final days.
As Kevin was a man who regularly practiced kind acts, we invite you to offer an act of kindness in remembrance of him. We love you Kevin, and you will be missed. As you always said, “It’s a beautiful day in Pennsylvania!”
