Rosella F. Butsch, 86, of 333 Main St., Kersey, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010.
She was born May 29, 1924 in Kersey, a daughter of the late Bernard and Helen Thorwart Schneider.
In September 1955, she married James L. Butsch in the St. Boniface Church who preceded her in death in 1963.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Kersey schools. She was a homemaker most of her life. She worked at Keystone and Grant’s Bradford House Restaurant and retired from Pinecrest Manor in 1988 after 11 years of service in the dietary department. She was a member of the St. Boniface Church. She was known for her cinnamon rolls and always made time to play a game of kickball with her children. She loved to play Trouble, Monopoly, bingo, canasta and all other kinds of cards.
She is survived by two daughters, Ethelrose M. Hanes and her husband, James of Kersey and Helen M. Carr and her husband, Francis Jr. of Kersey; a granddaughter, Dr. Candice Carr Gagliardi and her husband, Jason of Palm Coast, Fla.; a grandson, Jonathan Carr of State College; a sister, Alberta Wolfe and her husband, Alvin of St. Marys; a brother, Gerald Schneider and his wife, Shirley of Kersey; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five sisters, Agnes Ginther, Grace Robuck, Ethel Krolczyk, who was also her best friend, Mary Tamburlin and Nadine Florio; and by two brothers, Urban Schneider and Bernard Schneider.
Family and friends of Rosella F. Butsch are invited to attend a funeral Mass to be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Thursday, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. James Faluszczak, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
