Glenn B. Runge, 88, of 74 Erie Ave., St. Marys, and formerly of Sherry Road, died Monday evening, Dec. 13, 2010 at the Pinecrest Manor.
He was born Oct. 30, 1922, in Milwaukee, Wis., son of the late Carl and Rose Bremeier Runge.
On June 15, 1946 in Milwaukee, he married L. Beverly Moon, who survives.
Mr. Runge was a graduate of North Division High School in Milwaukee, Class of 1941, and Marquette University, Class of 1951. He had been a resident of St. Marys since 1967 and was a retired employee of Airco Carbon Co. He was a member of the Shiloh Presbyterian Church and a veteran of WWII, serving in the Navy in the Pacific Theatre. He served on the board of directors at Elcam and Elco Glen, and was a former member of the board of directors at Elk Regional Health Center. He was a member of the Triangle National Engineering Fraternity, the Shade Tree Commission, was on the board of directors at the St. Marys Public Library, was an Elder at the Shiloh Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday School, and was a master gardener.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters: Barbara Taylor and her husband, Stephen of Temecula, Calif., Elizabeth “Betty” Stephenson and her husband, Philip of Salisbury Mills, N.Y., Carol Runge of Auburn, N.Y., Jane McQuitty and her husband, Brian of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren: Mark Taylor, Emily Taylor, Matthew Stephenson, Megan McQuitty, and Erin McQuitty.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: his twin sister, Gloria Krause, and Audrey Hansen. He was the last member of his immediate family.
Funeral services for Glenn B. Runge will be celebrated in the Shiloh Presbyterian Church on Monday, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Scott Wiest officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Protestant Cemetery.
Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Center Street on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m.
