Mary "Louise" Coccimiglio, 97, of Pine Avenue, Force, died early Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at home following a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 22, 1914 in Brockway, daughter of the late Benjamine and Rosina (Porco) Caruso.
She married Anthony Francis Coccimiglio, who preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1979.
She was born and raised in Brockway, and lived for the past 78 years in Force. She was a graduate of Snyder Township High School. She was a homemaker, wife, and mother and for 10 years ran a general store in Weedville.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a past treasurer of the Rosary Altar Society and well-known for her true love of her church and church community. She also enjoyed baking.
She is survived by four children, John Coccimiglio and his wife Irene of DuBois, Richard Coccimiglio and his wife Penny of Penfield, Francis Coccimiglio of DuBois, and Mrs. Richard (Mary E.) Levanduski of Westlake, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marisa Caruso of Aviano, Italy and Margarite Caruso of Ayden, N.C. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, William, Theodore, Victor, George and Benjamin Caruso; and three sisters, Margaret Caruso, Nellie Grace Gomolek and Anna R. Wolfe.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary "Louise" Coccimiglio will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 19 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Force, with Father Thomas Tyler as celebrant. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Church Cemetery in Force.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 17 from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 18 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 19 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Joseph Church in Force.
