Mary Louise Yonkie, 81, of 23 Apollo Dr., Brockport, died Monday, March 14, 2011, at the DuBois Nursing Home.
She was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Challenge, the daughter of the late Walter S. and Mary
G. Trumbull Smith.
On Sept. 29, 1951, she married Harry L. Yonkie, who preceded her in death on Aug. 5, 2003.
A Kersey resident for most of her life, she moved to Brockport, five years ago. She had been employed at the Fox Twp. Elementary School from 1973 until her retirement in 1996. Mrs. Yonkie enjoyed playing cards, traveling and spending time with her family.
She is survived by four children, Linda Heitzenrater (Gary) of St. Marys, Debbie Donachy (Scott) of Kersey, Karen Kalgren (John) of Brockport, and Donald Yonkie (Kimberly) of Elgin, S.C.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Aul (Harold) of Kersey; and by two brothers, Jim Smith (Deloris) of Indiana and Henry Smith of Kersey.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Stauffer, and by a brother, Jim Smith.
Funeral and Committal Services for Mary Yonkie will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home in Ridgway. Officiating will be Mr. Brian Aul. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m.
