Florence S. Dietz, 88, of 7452 Ridgway-St. Marys Rd., Ridgway, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Elk Regional Health Center.
She was born Oct. 7, 1922, in Ridgway, daughter of the late United and Etta Mae (Birchfield) States.
On July 21, 1951, she married Paul E. Dietz , who preceded her in death on April 10, 1999.
She had resided in Ridgway all of her life and was a graduate of the Ridgway High School. She was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, an active member of the Elk County Historical Society, and a past member of the Professional Business Womens Association. She had been employed by Home Telephone Company for many years.
She is survived by a daughter, Maryetta Dietz and her husband Joseph Bliskey of Austin, Texas; two sons, Paul E. Dietz and his wife Joy of Lafayette, Ind. and Robert S. Dietz and his wife Elaine of Hampton, Va.; three grandchildren, Eric, Julie, and Christopher; three great-grandchildren, Sammy, Veronica, and Ian; a sister, Naomi Vanderhof and her husband Dean of Erie; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph States in WWII and William States; and two sisters, Treva O'Harrow and Hattie Brunner.
A Memorial Mass for Florence S. Dietz will be celebrated at St. Leo Catholic Church Social Hall on Monday at 10 a.m. Officiating will be Fr. Brian E. Vossler, pastor of St. Leo Catholic Church.
There will be no visitation.
