Rita Hanes Wendel, 79, of Anaheim, Calif., died Sunday, April 10, 2011 after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 20, 1931, in St. Marys, the daughter of the late Floyd and Barbara Hanes.
On June 23, 1956 in St. Marys, she married Raymond "Bud" Wendel, who preceded her in death in March 2007.
She attended Catholic schools in St. Marys. She enjoyed traveling and playing cards with friends and family.
She is survived by a brother, Paul Hanes of Waconia, Minn.; four sisters, Ruth Graham of Cypress, Calif., Mary Fritz of Sun City, Calif., Barbara Bruni of Kersey, and Vivian Leehan of Edinboro; two sisters-in-law, Delores Brennan and Shirley Wendel, both of St. Marys; a brother-in-law, Francis Braun; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Leo, Cletus, Carl and Floyd Hanes Jr.; and four sisters, Teresa and Kathryn in infancy, and Rosemary Gerber and Helen Cashmer of St. Marys.
Funeral arrangements were held in Sun City, Calif.
